The man who took Mallorca from the Moors
Jaume I (James I), was the king who conquered Mallorca from the Moors.
With 11,000 men and 300 horses, Jaume I docked in Santa Ponca in September 1229, and on December 31 the same year, Mallorca was conquered.
The last Arab governor who surrendered Mallorca, was Abú Yahya, whos son Jaume I kidnapped and baptized. He was also named Jaume, and later on became the first Baron of Gotor in Catalonia.
